The
Sandwick kennel was established in 1983
The name originates
from the homeland of the Sheltie; the Shetland Isles.
Sandwick is a village on Mainland
Shetland, midway between Sumburgh
and Lerwick.
A beautiful Shelfrect dog, Robbie, had been part of the family in the 70's as a
much loved pet
until a divorce saw him whisked away by an 'other half'!
Suki (Tumberly Tomboy) came
along as a replacement
and Sandwick was established. Originally bought as
another companion, Suki was to prove her worth as a
brood bitch...
...producing
the International Champions Sandwick Boomerang &
Sandwick Silver Dollar
Three years later, Lucy (Ch. Dippersmoor Damask)
arrived, a stunning 8 week old golden sable baby
and from there the foundation was set for the two lines
still active today.

Champion,
Group winner, top stud & loyal family pet - truly a
once in a lifetime dog and so very sorely missed at home
A
very, very special thank you to Joan Stanley of the Tegwel
kennel for letting Thomas come to Sandwick

Chris and
Joanne joined forces at Christmas time in 1996, Joanne officially joining the Sandwick
prefix in 1997
leaving her previous Sheltie partnership of 9 years but first ensuring that
Tasha's Granddaughter, the late Champion Micsyldon
Summer Bramble
was handled safely to her crowning & 4th CC's before
the split was complete. Both finishing CC's were with
Group placings so a fitting finale for a favourite
bitch.

The first homebred
human (Sandwick!) Alexander Christopher arrived in 1998 making the family complete.

Ch. Oakbark
Playful Juliet - made up to Champion at 8
years of age!
Chris has
chose to retire completely from breeding & judging
in 2005 after 22 years in the
breed.
Sandwick will carry on into the future with Joanne
